Successful workshop on Institutional Cooperation in Leeds
The 2nd CH4LLENGE training workshop on Institutional cooperation took place in Leeds, England on the 5-6th of November 2013. The workshop was hosted by a CH4LLENGE partner Metro which is a Strategic Transport Authority for the five West Yorkshire local district authorities with broad experience in institutional cooperation.
The workshop gave participants insights into institutional cooperation processes at a strategic level in West Yorkshire with practical examples of SUMP development, plan coordination and transport funding. The 3rd generation West Yorkshire Local Transport Plan emphasises the focus on people, and the way they are affected by the transport system. Furthermore, an example was given how Metro and the Leeds Public Health cooperate within the framework of Highway to Health Cycling Programme to encourage people to integrate physical activity in their daily living.
The workshop kicked-off the activities on SUMP roadmap development for the CH4LLENGE Follower Cities. The cities had a chance to discuss the current status of their SUMPs and share their expectations towards the project and the four challenges in smaller groups. The work with the roadmaps will continue in the next CH4LLENGE workshop in Amiens focusing on Measure selection.
Presentations and material can be downloaded on the Leeds workshop event page.
