Tallinn joins the group of Follower Cities

We are very pleased to announce that the capital of Estonia has joined our project as a Follower City in February 2014. Having just recently introduced free public transport for its citizens and having extensively worked on improving sustainability in the city, we look forward to learn more about their experiences and local practices. Sustainable urban mobility planning is a relatively new concept in Tallinn though. A representative from the Tallinn Transport Department states: “We are quite in the beginning of the SUMP process and so far there seem to be more questions than answers. Therefore, it is extremely useful for us to participate in CH4LLENGE to gather as much expertise and experience from other cities as possible. This does not only include best practice examples – so called bad practices should not be neglected as well. Examples of the latter are sometimes even more valuable than just promoting the success stories.”

The first experience exchange between Tallinn, other Follower Cities and the CH4LLENGE SUMP Expert Team will happen in Amiens (March 2014) at the training workshop on measure selection in sustainable urban mobility planning.

If your city is interested in joining the group of Follower Cities have a look at the information sheet and contact us! We are happy to welcome Follower Cities throughout the entire project.
